How many porta potties does a construction site need?
A Florida construction site needs 1 porta potty for every 10 workers with weekly service, under Florida rule 62-6.0101 Table PR II. A crew of 1 to 10 needs 1 unit, 11 to 20 needs 2, and 41 to 50 needs 5. With service twice a week, divide by 2 and round up.
| Workers on site | Florida (weekly service) | Florida (twice weekly) | OSHA 1926.51 minimum |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–10 | 1 | 1 | 1 toilet |
| 11–20 | 2 | 1 | 1 toilet |
| 21–30 | 3 | 2 | 1 seat + 1 urinal |
| 31–40 | 4 | 2 | 1 seat + 1 urinal |
| 41–50 | 5 | 3 | 2 seats + 2 urinals |
| 60 | 6 | 3 | 2 seats + 2 urinals |
| 100 | 10 | 5 | 3 seats + 3 urinals |

Worked example: a 14-person framing crew
A 14-person framing crew needs 2 porta potties with weekly service under Florida's table, while OSHA's minimum would be 1. Follow Florida's stricter count: 2 units. If the crew grows to 22 for two weeks of roofing, add a third unit, or keep 2 units and switch to twice-weekly service.
- Count everyone on site on the busiest day, subs included.
- Divide by 10 and round up: 14 ÷ 10 = 1.4, so 2 units.
- For twice-weekly service, divide by 2 and round up: 2 ÷ 2 = 1 unit.
- Add 1 hand wash station if the crew handles paint, sealants or other contaminants.
How does job-site service work?
Job-site units are serviced once a week on a fixed day: the tank is pumped, the inside is washed and sanitized, and paper and sanitizer are restocked. Florida requires at least weekly service. Billing runs on a 28-day cycle that renews until you call for pickup, so units stay through delays without new paperwork.
- Give us the gate code or lockbox and the service day you prefer.
- Keep a 10-foot lane open so the service truck can reach the unit.
- Moving phases? Tell us and we move the unit on the next visit.
- Florida lets one contractor share units between sites no more than 300 feet apart.
Can you handle multi-site and builder accounts?
Builder accounts can run one unit per lot across several subdivisions, each priced by ZIP code and billed together on one invoice. Palm Coast single-lot builds, St. Johns County subdivisions and Clay County utility crews are common account types. Call to set up the account and a standing service day.

What is the monthly price for a job-site porta potty?
A standard job-site unit starts around $185 per 28-day cycle with weekly service included. The first cycle adds delivery, and pickup is a small flat fee. Your quote lists each line by ZIP code.
Is the monthly billing a calendar month?
Billing runs on 28-day cycles, not calendar months. Each cycle renews automatically until you call for pickup.
Can I add a second service day each week?
Twice-weekly service can be added for busy crews. It costs more than weekly service but can cut the number of units you need in half under Florida's table.
Can you add secondary containment or an office-trailer waste tank?
Holding tanks for office trailers and secondary containment can be quoted for larger jobs. Call with the trailer's fixture count and how long the job runs.
Can I put the rental under my company name?
Rentals can be set up under your company name with a job name and PO number on every invoice.
